Both CNS projects on Parkinson’s disease use normative modelling — building a reference distribution of brain measures across a healthy population, then quantifying how far an individual patient deviates from it. This suits PD well, because the neuropsychiatric symptoms that matter clinically vary enormously between individuals and are poorly captured by group averages.
CNS Projects¶
Julia-Katharina Pfarr — normative modelling to predict neuropsychiatric symptoms in PD from brain imaging that is already collected in routine clinical practice, adapting the Rutherford et al. lifespan reference model
Johanna Bayer — predicting PD progression using longitudinal, federated normative modelling, a methodology she developed to characterise individual trajectories of brain change
