This book documents the open datasets, tools, and methods used by scholars in the Canadian Neuroanalytics Scholars Program. It is written by the scholars themselves, accumulated over the course of their projects, and intended for the people who come next.
If you are starting a project and wondering where to find data, how to get compute, which preprocessing pipeline to run, or whether a particular tool is worth the week it will take to learn — that is what this is for.

How it is organized¶
Start Here — the guided path through everything below, for anyone who does not yet know what they are looking for.
Meet the scholars — what each scholar is working on, and increasingly, first-hand accounts of the tools they adopted and why. Those testimonial sections are the part you will not find in any software documentation.
Databases and Data Portals — the open datasets scholars actually use, with notes on access and structure.
Research Topics and Modalities — entry points that connect a subject or a data type to the people working on it and the tools that apply.
Research Methods — the analytical approaches in use across the program, from deep learning to normative modelling.
Research Tools — the practical documentation: git, containers, compute clusters, BIDS, preprocessing pipelines.
Discussions — accumulated hard-won knowledge that does not fit anywhere else, such as why the same function gives different answers in MATLAB and Python.
